This split in Sonic fans make it harder for Sega to make a good Sonic game that every fan will enjoy, as the fans are usually in totally different age groups, classic Sonic fans are mostly people who are over 20 years old, and modern Sonic fans are younger, usually kids or teenagers. I’m quite sure that most people know that classic Sonic fans are the people who enjoyed the classic 2D Sonic games, and the modern Sonic fans are people like me who enjoyed the 3D Sonic games.
Back when I was a kid I was a huge Sonic fanboy, but I was a modern Sonic fan, and today I’ll elaborate on what I mean about classic and modern Sonic fans. Looking back at my old articles, it actually surprised me that I never wrote about Sonic the Hedgehog.
